Caring for Your Jade: Maintenance and Storage Guide

Jade is a remarkably durable gemstone (6.5-7 Mohs hardness for jadeite) suitable for daily wear.
Cleaning: Use lukewarm water and mild soap, gently clean with a soft cloth. Never use ultrasonic cleaners. Avoid harsh chemicals.
Storage: Store jade pieces separately to prevent scratching. Wrap each piece in soft cloth. Keep away from direct sunlight.
What to Avoid: Perfume, hairspray, chlorine, saltwater, sudden temperature changes, and impact against hard surfaces.
Jade Bangles Special Care: When putting on or removing a jade bangle, do so over a soft surface. Many collectors keep their bangle on permanently, which is the traditional practice.
Traditional Belief: In Chinese culture, it is believed that jade becomes more beautiful with prolonged skin contact, as the wearer's body oils enhance the stone's lustre over time. This process is called 'yang yu' (nurturing jade).
